POSITION SUMMARY

The Metal Stud Framing Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising a team of framers in the construction of metal stud walls and structures. This role includes planning, coordinating, and overseeing framing projects to ensure they are completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest quality standards.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Metal/Steel Stud Framing Foreman, is accountable for performing the duties and responsibilities described below.  The list, however, is not necessarily an exhaustive description of the duties and responsibilities associated with the job.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and specifications.
  • Plan and schedule daily activities to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and manage inventory to ensure necessary supplies are available.
  • Communicate with the project manager, other trades, and team members to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to determine layout and framing requirements
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior walls, partitions, and ceilings
  • Install horizontal and vertical metal studs to form wall framing
  • Install metal tracks and channels for ceilings and flooring
  • Fasten metal frames and channels to building materials using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
  • Ensure that all framing work is done according to the building codes and safety standards
  • Communicate with other construction workers to ensure efficient and safe work practices

 

EXPECTATIONS

  • Supervise and direct a crew of framers, ensuring all work is performed safely and to quality standards.
  • Train and mentor crew members, providing guidance and assistance as needed.
  • Monitor team performance and address any issues related to productivity or workmanship.
  • Promote and enforce a safe work environment, following OSHA and company safety regulations.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Ensure a safe work environment for all employees by following safety protocols, identifying and correcting or reporting safety risks, and maintaining a job site free from debris, clutter, and hazards.
  • Be dependable, reliable, and consistent by showing up to work as scheduled, on time and ready to work hard.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Steel Framing Knowledge - Expertise in constructing steel stud walls, floors, and ceilings
  • Welding - Proficiency in welding and bolting steel studs together
  • Building Code Compliance - Familiarity with local building regulations and codes
  • Measurement Accuracy - Ability to accurately measure lengths and angles
  • Mathematical Skills - Expertise in using complex math equations to calculate angles, lengths, and surface areas
  • Time Management - Capability to complete projects on a tight timeline
  • Organizational Skills - Competency in organizing materials and tools for efficient construction
  • Safety Awareness - Awareness of safety procedures and protocols for operating power tools
  • Training required (i.e. OSHA 10, OSHA 30, fall protection, etc.)
  • Must own/maintain all required PPE and hand tools
  • Must maintain a valid drivers license
    • Employees are required to have reliable transportation to get to the job site, travel between job sites, purchase materials, etc.
    • Employees operating a company vehicle are required to have an acceptable driving record per our insurance policy/carrier requirements.
  • High motivation, work ethic, and enthusiasm
  • Must possess excellent communication skills
  • Ability to operate a smart device for timekeeping, communications, etc.
  • Must be of legal working age in New York State, and eligible to work in the U.S.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Repeat the same movements (i.e., Make fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists).
  • See objects/controls in bright/glaring light, see details of objects, determine distance between objects.
  • Understand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand.
  • Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them; focus on one source of sound and ignore others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Exposure to extremely loud sounds and noise levels.
  • Encounters a variety of weather conditions including indoors and outdoors, hot, and cold temperatures, with exposure to wet surfaces when working in the rain or snow.
  • Often wears protective attire, such as hard hat, safety goggles, safety shoes, etc.
  • Often exposed to hazardous equipment, such as cranes and hazardous tools such as power saws.
  • Often exposed to high places, such as scaffolding, roofs or ladders.
  • Sometimes exposed to fumes/contaminants, such as fuel, insulation materials, paints, and solvents.
  • Sometimes exposed to cramped workspace that require getting into awkward positions.
  • This position operates in both interior and exterior construction sites and is constantly exposed to the elements of a commercial or residential construction site. WORK SCHEDULE
Company operating hours are Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm. Full-time employees are regularly scheduled and expected to work 40 hours per week. Part-time employees are expected to work as scheduled. Overtime as needed and approved by the manager. All employees are required to take meal breaks in accordance with New York state law.

 

TRAVEL
Our teams meet at the job site. Therefore, this position requires travel to a job site each day, typically in the greater Rochester area.  Most work projects require an extended period at a single location, though occasionally jobs are postponed or delayed which may require transportation to more than one job site in any given day or week.  There are occasional worksites outside the Greater Rochester Area; though, wherever possible, consideration is given to the location of the employee’s home and willingness to travel.  Reliable transportation is required to travel between job sites, purchase materials, etc.
